Researchers from DCI earn MISTI Chile seed fund for humanitarian logistics project

The project entitled “Information Technologies for Supporting Disaster Relief Operations in Chile” directed by researchers from the Department of Engineering Sciences Andrés Bronfman and Raquel Jiménez - a research initiative with no precedents in Chile - received funding from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) through the MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives, in its version for Chile (MISTI Chile).

About Us

The Department of Engineering Science (DCI) was created in 2004 as part of the Faculty of Engineering to support, enhance, and develop activities related to education, research, and extension.

The Department of Engineering Science consists of young faculty members with doctorates studies from national and international universities. They are working on advanced research projects related to operative research, logistics, environmental management, risks perception and management, integer programming, forest industry, natural resources, GIS applications in transportation, intelligent transportation systems, automatic vehicle location, and GPS technology.

The Department of Engineering Science has an ambitious development and strategic plan to incorporate young doctors in order to pursue solid core research. Those interested are invited to contact the Department of Engineering Science.
